Coming Soon!
I’m currently working on a one-woman show, titled I Still Have Something to Sing. This show is based on my life before and after a diagnosis of MS, but the message of inspiration and hope is universal and will resonate with anyone who is facing a personal challenge.
Watch this space for more about this project.
Home-Grown Art
I’m not a “fine artist,” but I love creating artwork by combining a little ingenuity with crafts, canvas, and found objects. This is a fun and inexpensive way to have a home environment with lots of character and visual interest. I love the challenge of giving an existing product a new look or completely different use. For example, sheet metal is bent and painted in order to appear fluid and fabric-like. Store mannequins become sculptures with the help of scissors, colorful paper and glue. And gold and silver leaf transform a piece of cardboard and a plastic mold into a glowing moon. MORE ABOUT HOME-GROWN ARTWORK
Furnishings from Found Objects
I love walking through hardware stores and lumberyards, daydreaming about how to turn odds and ends into interesting furnishings and decor. Copper pipe fittings become candlestick holders. A stone slab becomes an entry hall table. Window frames become picture frames. You get the idea.
Parties & Celebrations
Holidays, parties, and celebrations are some of the best parts of life. That’s why I like to let my imagination run free in order to create decorations and foods that make a table setting inviting or a room come alive with whimsy and color.
Clothing Design & Style
I began designing clothes in high school when I saw my first hip-hugger skirt in the movie, “A Hard Days Night.” The skirts were not yet available in the US, so I went home, altered a skirt pattern, and had the first “British invasion” in my school. I also have an unceasing curiosity when it comes to good design. But by nature, I am also frugal and ultimately find my greatest inspiration when challenged to create something, not buy it.
